Bike Course Info (Subject to change)

Cyclists will exit Transition going north towards Port - Dunany - Corstown - Johnstown and turning left at the Martinstown Cross onto the R166.

From there you will continue along the R166 passing Ardballan - Wyanstown - Togher (crossroads) - Kilally - Ardbolies  and will turn left at Murray's Cross continuing along the R166.  From there you continue on the R166 past Reynoldstown - the Dales and turn left at Hacketts Cross and continue back along the coast road to Transition.

Competitors must adhere to normal rules of the road throughout the course and pay particular attention to course marshals who may be warning of hazards or vehicular traffic approaching.

All participants will be provided with a Full Bike Race Briefing on 5th August and on Race Day but in the meantime here are some basic rules that will not change;

  • Cycling is not allowed in transition area. Wheel your bicycle over the timing mat both when exiting Transition for the bike leg, and when entering Transition in preparation for the run leg.
  • Competitors are personally responsible that their bicycles are in satisfactory condition and for providing necessary tools and spare parts to carry out repairs themselves.  Bikes and helmets will be checked pre-race before you are allowed to enter Transition.  Receiving help, in the course of the competition, from others is not allowed.
  • Cycling helmets are compulsory.
  • Drafting is not allowed. You must stay 7 meters (approximately three bike lengths) behind the front wheel of the competitor in front of you. The front edge of the front bicycle wheel will define the centre of the leading 3-metre edge of the rectangle. A competitor may enter the draft zone but must be seen to be making forward progress. A maximum of 15 seconds will be allowed for a competitor to pass through the draft zone. There will be draft marshals on the route.
  • The route will be well signposted, and marshals will be present at any 'decision points' throughout the route.
