Transition Info

The Transition Area i.e. the bike changing area, will be located in the Port Beach/Lurganboy Car Park.
Only participants (with race numbers, helmet and road safe bike) will be allowed within the transition area. The transition area will be cleared of all participants 15 mins prior to the start of the first swim wave.

A Full Race Briefing will be provided to all participants in advance of the race but in the meantime here are some rules and safety advice that will not change;

  • All participants will be required to move in a certain direction within the transition area and all entrances and exits will be strictly controlled to ensure that only athletes are permitted to enter the area.
  • Bike positions will be numbered and bike racks lettered.
  • Participants should not interfere with equipment belonging to any other athlete - any issues of athletes taking an inordinate amount of space should be brought to the attention of the Marshal.
  • Participants must put on and buckle their helmet prior to removing their bike. They can then proceed down through the transition area (past the timing mats) wheeling their bike until they cross the mount\dismount line. They can then mount their bike and start cycling. There will be a mounting line at this point and a marshal to indicate where it is. You may not mount your bike before this line and doing so may incur a penalty. Please bear in mind that while you are leaving the transition area other athletes may be returning from their bike or run leg.
  • When returning, participants must dismount their bike at the dismount line and wheel it over the timing mats before re-racking it (at the same original position without interfering with other athletes). Only at this point athletes can un-buckle their helmets, change into running shoes and exit the transition area and start the run.
