Most of ye probably don't know me, as i'm a bit of a part-timer at the pulse training sessions scene, long-time-listener, first-time-caller, that sort of thing... but about a month ago I did this event and I'd thought it'd be a good event to share as there's very little like it here in Ireland.
Xterra is an off-road triathlon franchise, similar in the way ironman is except not quiet the world dominating scene that that is just yet. The races vary in their distances due to their off-road nature, but they aim to be around the same duration, time-wise Olympic distance events, maybe perhaps around 5-10% longer.

The national series headed west this weekend for the Salmon Run sprint triathlon hosted by the Liquid Motion Tri club in Ballina. A number of Pulse warriors took to the start line in terrible weather conditions.
Building on excellent recent form Mark Horan crossed the line to take the overall race win. A big congratulations to Mark on a fantastic performance. Unfortunately, due to the monsoon conditions on the day cameras seem to have been a rare commodity. The photo below shows Mark looking calm and collected in the Irish colours before another great performace in the European championships in Athlone last week.

Great performaces also from the Pulse ladies, travelling west to help Georgia celebrate her birthday in style. Fiona and Sinead both coming in the top 3 in their age groups. Congratulations to all racing in the terrible conditions on the day.
This weekend represented the summit of the 2010 season for many Pulse Tri members.
From the heatwave in Germany to the the storms in Athlone, Ironman and European glory were on the minds of many over the weekend.

Just in case you're confused, it's the guys on the left that are in a German heatwave, on the right is the slightly chillier Athlone!

One of the most precious weekends on the race calendar certainly didn't disappoint for 2010. Pulse baladeers (and thankfully there seem to be lots of them) will be including reference to this one for many a day to come.
It's one to bring the full spectre into the mix ..........
The agony The ecstacy .... and much more!

Read on for a couple of different perspectives on the day's events. Thanks for Johnny and Caroline for putting reports together on the full days proceedings. Please make sure that you are sitting down before you read on!
The 2010 season just keeps gettings better every week for Pulse Tri. Opposite coners of the country hosted two of the more popular races on the season calendar.
A really big congratulations to Joe Lynch for taking top spot in Mullaghmore to capture Pulse's first national series win of the year, hopefully not the last! 6 seconds was all that prevented a sensational Lynch double. Despite not feeling the best for the week before the race, Aoife Lynch came home in a very close second place. Congratulations also to Aoife on an incredible performance.
In Dunmore East there was also a solid Pulse contingent out for the annual Hook or By Crook sprint race. First home in Pulse colours on the day was Mark Horan who put in an excellent performance to come home in 8th place. Read on for a full report on proceedings thanks to Dympna.
A lean bunch of the Pulse crew descended into the city of the tribes for what was going to be the second annual Galway Cope Triathlon held in Salthill. The event was a special one for all the Galwegians in home territory.
There have been a few queries recently with respect to membership. There was a problem recently with the paypal link, but all is fixed for anyone out there looking to join up. Just follow the 'About Us' tab on the home page and click on 'Join Pulse'. Or simply click here to get to the membership page. Couldn't be easier!
